Chapter 13

Jose

Bursting out laughing, I rolled onto my knees and tried to scramble across the bed to freedom. I’d only just managed to get up onto my knees, though, when a hand grabbed my ankle and tugged me backward.

“Oh, no you don’t,” Ellis growled, pulling me to the edge of the bed where he was standing.

After our shower, he’d dried me off, just holding me close the whole time while he patted me dry. I knew he was worried that I’d regret what we’d done, but I didn’t, not even slightly. Sure, we’d only just taken the plunge into a relationship together, but like he’d told me when he’d pulled back as he was drying my hair – we’d been building this relationship for months, regardless of where my head was at. I could see it now that I thought about it, the fact I was comfortable around him, that I trusted him with not only me but Olivia, too, and I’d thought it through carefully before taking that monumental step… some might not get it, but I did. I don’t care how clean you are when you clean up puke, by the time you’re done you want rid of that smell from your nostrils, and the only way to do that was with another shower. Ellis had laid claim to the side of the bed closest to us after we’d come out of the bathroom, because he couldn’t sleep on the other side of it. So I’d jumped on it and started making my way under the covers on the side in question – which led us to now.

“You’ll never know if you can sleep on the other side if you don’t try,” I snickered, dropping down flat on the bed so I was harder to move. “You should embrace new experiences.”

A sharp smack hit my butt cheek, the noise cutting through the silence, and I’m not sure if it was the feeling or the noise that made me jump, but I did, and my ass shot back up so that I was on all fours. Two sensations hit me right then, the warmth blooming out of the area that had been smacked, and the cold air from the air conditioning hitting the rest of it, as his t-shirt lifted over it and fell down my back. Before I could fix it, his hand swept up the back of
